Oireachtas Committee Told Ennis, Nenagh and St. John's Hospitals Must Be Given Equal Priority

A group of government representatives has been told that overcrowding at the region's main hospital is a "year-round problem". The Midwest Hospitals Campaign Group appeared before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Public Petitions yesterday to lobby for the reopening of emergency departments at Ennis, Nenagh and St. John's hospitals. It comes just weeks after the highest ever level of overcrowding at an Irish hospital was recorded at University Hospital Limerick, with 130 people waiting on trolleys at the facility on October 23rd. Ballyvaughan resident and Midwest Hospitals Campaign Group spokesperson Noeleen Moran says while the issue of people waiting on trolleys is a consistent concern, spikes are experienced at particular times of the year.
