<p>A private school teacher and five others have been arrested for allegedly tampering with electricity metres belonging to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC.</p>, <p>The arrest was carried out by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command.</p>, <p>The teacher, identified as John, was paraded alongside other suspects-Jaye Abayomi, Abidemi Enoch, Jackson Imukodro, Adeleke Fatimah and Azeez Mutiu.</p>, <p>Parading the suspects before journalists at the NSCDC Osun State command headquarters, the Commandant, Sunday Agboola, said the suspects were arrested in Awosuru, Alekuwodo, Jaleyemi, Ogo-Oluwa and Omigade areas of Osogbo, the State capital.</p>, <p>Agboola added that the suspects were arrested during a joint operation by his men and IBEDC officials on October 13, 2023.</p>, <p>While noting that a series of arrests have been made to deter the public from energy theft, the Osun NSCDC boss lamented that many people in the State still engaged in the act.</p>, <p>“The command is dismayed. Despite several arrests made to deter the public from embarking on this illegal act, some have bluntly refused to desist from this act.</p>, <p>“NSDCC will not rest on its oars until we see positive change in our state. After an investigation has been completed, these suspects will be taken to court,” he stated.</p>
