NPFL board increases referees allowance for new season

<p>The Nigeria Professional Football League board has approved an increase in the payment of referees for the 2023-24 season.</p>, <p>An increment of 30% has been made with the support of the league’s strategic partners, GTI Assets Management.</p>, <p>The Chairman of the NPFL, Gbenga Elegbeleye said the increment was based on the general increase in cost of transportation all over the country.</p>, <p>“We are not unaware of the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on transportation.</p>, <p>“Increasing the allowance of the Match Officials by 30% is the right thing to do”, he stated.</p>, <p>The new season has been slated to start on Saturday, September 9, with a flag off fixture between Shooting Stars (3SC) and Plateau United at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.</p>
