Noam Auger on Celebrating Self-Acceptance & Working Beyond the Gender Binary
Sid'Ahmed Abdelahi
Description

[250] The exploratory path to self-acceptance can be challenging in a world that often pushes so many expectations and judgements. We are told and encouraged to be ourselves from a young age, but that often comes with a silent reservation: "Be yourself, but don't make others uncomfortable."

Workplaces aren't immune to society's deep conditioning and binary view of gender, and to quote gender deconstruction worker Dr Lisa Cravens-Brown, "socially constructed gender norms are — always limiting, often harmful." A better understanding of the multitudes of gender is essential for us to live in a more inclusive society. On a workplace scale, it is essential to start implementing gender-inclusive policies and practices to attract and retain employees and clients who fall outside the gender binary.

In this episode, you'll hear stories, experiences and advice from Noam Auger, entrepreneur and hair artist whose first hair studio —CallmeNoam— came to life in the spirit of celebrating self-acceptance and offering a safer environment to create and connect with his community.

Links:

Learn more about Noam's private studio, call me noAM: https://www.callmenoam.com

Follow Noam on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/callmenoamm/

Click here to subscribe to the weekly Phorest FM email newsletter: http://bit.ly/2T2gUj1

This episode was edited and mixed by Audio Z: Montreal's cutting-edge post-production studio for creative minds looking to have their vision professionally produced and mixed.
