A West Clare Councillor is confident a new pilot tourist accommodation project can provide a vital revenue stream for farmers. It comes as the local authority has this week granted approval for a new scheme which would enable farms and coastal areas to provide a maximum of two serviced glamping pods for visitors. This summer, the Clare Tourism Advisory Forum estimated that hotelliers had missed out on an additional 37% of bed nights due to accommodation shortages, while in 2022, 57% of farms recorded an income of less than €20,000. Loop Head Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy believes the iniative will be a succesful venture for all parties involved.
