Neelam's Disney fairytale turned into a living nightmare: How she rebuilt her life after financial and physical abuse

<p>Neelam was living a life of luxury, with a price charming she called "straight out of a Hollywood movie". But this facade came crashing down, after she moved to Australia to marry him. The romantic and extravagant gestures were all made possible through spiralling debt. Neelam was forced to work multiple jobs to make ends meet, but her husband was not appreciative. He became physically and financially abusive: controlling her every move, restraining her from achieving her goals and viciously insulting her. Eventually her husband became so violent, the police asked her to leave the house and never return. With no family in Australia, Neelam implemented a few savvy tricks before her escape that made the journey less arduous.</p> <p>This is a story of perseverance and determination in the face of serious struggles.
