National Update on Canada’s Courts with John Carpay

<p>The Canadian Constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms protect Canadian freedoms such as:</p><p><br></p><p>- Mobility rights</p><p>- Conscience rights</p><p>- Freedom of peaceful assembly</p><p>- Freedom of communication in the media</p><p>- Protection from unreasonable seizure</p><p>- Equal treatment before the law for all Canadians</p><p><br></p><p>Currently, Canada’s courts are being flooded with cases where citizens are suing various levels of government for breaching their charter rights over the last few years. It is likely that our nation has never before seen such an influx of charter court cases in such a small window of time.</p><p><br></p><p>The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms is on the frontlines, currently representing hundreds of these cases across the nation.  </p><p><br></p><p>Recently, founder John Carpay was detained in prison for 23 hrs for a related investigation that he was a part of 17 months ago.  </p><p><br></p><p>He is with us today to discuss what happened and some of the cases he and his team have been taking on— the most notable case of which is The Hon. Brian Peckford’s lawsuit against the federal government for breeching his mobility rights.
