My kid just came out as LGBTQ+. What do I do?

<p>My child just came out as LGBTQ+ to me. What does that mean and what do I do?</p> <p>Even in the most accepting and loving families, coming out is never easy for the child. If your child trusts you enough to come out, it’s extremely important that you don’t let them down. So how do you do that?</p> <p>In this episode we bust some of the misconceptions surrounding the spectrum of gender and sexuality, and the best ways to support your child or young adult when they come out.&nbsp;</p> <p>From gender identity to preferred pronouns, your child knows themselves better than you do even if they don’t yet have the language to describe it. The key is to respect and trust your child even if you don’t quite understand. Be patient with yourself. Understanding will come in time and will result in a stronger, healthier relationship with your child.</p>
