Her step-mother is very angry at her and tells her not to come back until she has found the spindle. She goes into the well and comes out on a road. She passes an over and an apple tree and helps them as she makes her way to a small cottage. When she arrives at the cottage she stays and helps the woman inside and after a while gets her spindle and returns home after being rewarded for her help.
