Description

The first set of regulations implementing portions of the No Surprises Act should be released on July 1 with a January 2022 effective date. The regulations will focus on how health plans should identify the in-network median rate for a particular medical item or service in a geographic area, including what the geographic areas will be. Chris Condeluci walks through the new surprise medical billing payment process, what the impact is on states that already enacted a surprise billing law, and the provisions included in the No Surprises Act that are not necessarily tied to the surprise billing payment requirements.
