MIke McTigue - The Banner Champion - Documentary

We pay homage to one of County Clare's greatest sporting legends and former World Boxing Champion, Mike McTigue. Take a journey back in time to the most remarkable World Title fight ever held in the city – or perhaps, anywhere – when Mike McTigue from Kilnamona won the World Light Heavyweight title, beating Battling Siki over an astonishing 20 rounds. The fight was held amid tight security during a flash point of the Civil War, with anti-treaty forces determined that it would not proceed. This documentary, produced by Gavin Grace, brings this night and McTigue himself to life with specially-written dramatic elements.
