Description

Patients in Clare and across the MidWest are being encouraged to avail of a new community care initiative. The Alternative Pre Hospital Pathway sees specialist emergency medicine doctors and paramedics respond to low-acuity calls within a forty-five minute radius of University Hospital Limerick's ambulance dispatch centre. Over 60 patients who otherwise may have had to present at the emergency department or the hospital itself have been treated by the service in just the last four weeks. Emergency Care Directorate at the UL Hospitals Group, Dr Damien Ryan says the pathway can deliver a wide range of care.
