This week Nicky Lambert and David Munday spoke with guests Dr Syka Iqbal and Dr Muhammad Waqas about Long COVID: what we know about how the condition affects mental health. SI - Dr. Syka Iqbal is an Assistant professor in Psychology at the University of Bradford. Prior to this, she worked as a lecturer at Birkbeck University and Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research investigated Diabetes health behaviours, specifically in ethnically diverse groups, which involved working collaboratively with the NHS on tackling health inequalities and building behavioural models for change. She is interested in mental health, health inequalities, public and patient involvement in research, critical, and community psychology. MW - Dr. Muhammad Waqas is an Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Bradford. Previously, he has worked at the University of Leeds, the University of York, the University of Sheffield, and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Muhammad is especially interested in the economics of migration, the economics of health and subjective well-being, applied microeconomics, and applied econometrics. He has published in prestigious 3*/4* peer-reviewed journals. Most of his research is on mental health, immigration, and the issues revolving around immigration.
