This week Nicky Lambert, Vanessa Gilmartin and David Munday spoke with guests Chris Connell and Michael Haslam about Mental health nursing identity: A critical analysis. CC: Chris is a proud dad of two, keen exercise enthusiast and mental health nurse lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire. Chris has a history of working with Children and Young People (CYP) in both long term psychological work and crisis assessment and management. Chris leads on several modules at both undergraduate and post graduate level across multiple schools at the university. Chris’ Master’s Degree is in Philosophy of mental. The dissertation is an exploration of tracking autonomy in the patient diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Chris is a member of the MHNAUK sub group #MHDeservesBetter and is working towards improving mental health nurse education for students. MH: Michael is a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing, and a current PhD student at the University of Central Lancashire. His MSc is in Personality Disorder (research) and his research interests include how care is experienced in mental health crisis settings and barriers/facilitators. Michael teaches across a range of programmes and modules including CPD and pre-registration BSc ad MSc modules. He has previously worked within Inpatient Services, Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment and more recently, Mental Health Liaison.
