Description

An MEP for this region claims the decision to refuse permission for a LNG terminal in the Shannon Estuary as a major setback. It comes as An Bórd Pleanála finally made the call to turn down planning for US Multi-National New Fortress Energy to construct a Liquified Natural Gas terminal at Ballylongford in Kerry. The board made the decision on the basis that it would be 'inappropriate' to proceed while a government review of the national security of energy supply is still pending. However Fine Gael MEP, Seán Kelly believes the judgement will diminish future investment opportunities.
