Megan Kate Nelson: Writing The West

<p data-w-id="c4189a1c-cab9-a595-e3bd-ea5b9599c22b" data-wf-id= "["c4189a1c-cab9-a595-e3bd-ea5b9599c22b"]" data-automation-id="dyn-item-details-input">Megan Kate Nelson is a historian and writer, with a BA from Harvard and a PhD in American Studies from the University of Iowa. She is the author of <em data-w-id="17808da4-2b5f-0b89-9733-ee926ab700e4" data-wf-id= "["17808da4-2b5f-0b89-9733-ee926ab700e4"]" data-automation-id="dyn-item-details-input">Saving Yellowstone: Exploration and Preservation in Reconstruction America</em>(Scribner 2022) and her previous book, <em data-w-id= "69583127-ef2c-72d9-eda7-915e2d4cda19" data-wf-id= "["69583127-ef2c-72d9-eda7-915e2d4cda19"]" data-automation-id="dyn-item-details-input">The Three-Cornered War: The Union, the Confederacy, and Native Peoples in the Fight for the West</em>(Scribner 2020) was a finalist for the 2021 Pulitzer Prize in History. She writes about the Civil War, the U.S. West, and American culture for <em data-w-id= "91ee0292-8990-3c95-14ed-f5958eb95705" data-wf-id= "["91ee0292-8990-3c95-14ed-f5958eb95705"]" data-automation-id="dyn-item-details-input">The New York Times</em>, <em data-w-id="c22240ad-febb-fe91-a7b0-d6ce2597eee7" data-wf-id="["c22240ad-febb-fe91-a7b0-d6ce2597eee7"]" data-automation-id="dyn-item-details-input">Washington Post</em>, <em data-w-id="38bebeae-5361-6d71-7698-cef08426c417" data-wf-id= "["38bebeae-5361-6d71-7698-cef08426c417"]" data-automation-id="dyn-item-details-input">The Atlantic</em>, <em data-w-id="ee83171a-2885-20d6-55a3-fe3c7ad20e13" data-wf-id= "["ee83171a-2885-20d6-55a3-fe3c7ad20e13"]" data-automation-id="dyn-item-details-input">Smithsonian Magazine</em>, and TIME.
