I'll also speak with Dr David Durgan and his graduate student, Huanan Shi, from Baylor School of Medicine about their study Restructuring The Gut Microbiota by Intermittent Fasting Lowers Blood Pressure.</p> <p> </p> <p>Cindy St. Hilaire: The first article I want to share comes from the April 30th issue of Circ Res and is titled CARMN Loss Regulates Smooth Muscle Cells and Accelerates Atherosclerosis in Mice. The first author is Francesca Vacante and the corresponding author is Andrew Baker, and they're from the University of Edinburgh. The increased proliferation and migration of local vascular smooth muscle cells is part of the complex pathology of atherosclerotic plaques.
