Your thinking ultimately controls your life. In Matthew 4:17, Jesus begin His ministry by calling people to repentance. It was a call to a new way of thinking. He wanted people to begin thinking like heaven would want them to think.   In the yoruba language, the word "repentance" is IRONU PIWA DA" which literally means " stirring you inside to change your conduct on the outside. It's about deep thinking that brings about great changes. Thinking is one of the ways to stir up the life of God in us. When we think through an issue in line with the word of God something snaps inside us that brings light into our lives concerning the situation.  Luke 15:17-19 (NKJV) “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”  In the story we see a young man who takes his inheritance from his father and heads off to a life of independence and recklessness. After  squandering all his wealth he ends up in a deplorable state feeding pigs and longing to eat from their food.As he began to think about his life in his lowly state, he asked himself some deep questions and in the process he came to his senses. Those thought provoking questions brought about his liberation. He understood that his father's servants had a more dignified life that he had. He decided to return to his father to take up the position of a servant but was received and celebrated in his position  as a son.
