Marriage as a Path to Holiness with Drs. David and Mary Ford – Ep 127

<p>Has it been a while since you’ve said those marriage vows or did the Dance of Isaiah?  Orthodox weddings are quite different from the way many Hallmark movies end.  Today Cynthia talks to Drs. David and Mary Ford about marriage.  They cover what an Orthodox ceremony looks like, and take us through the purpose of marriage and... what is submission? </p> <p align="center"><img style="float: left;" src= "https://assets.libsyn.com/secure/show/106225/IMG_2722.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="450" /></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Dr. David Ford is Professor of Church History at St. Tikhon’s Seminary in South Canaan, Pennsylvania.  He went to college at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, where he majored in History.  Immediately after graduation he went to Liberia, West Africa, as a volunteer in the United States Peace Corps; he served there for three years in the field of education. Upon returning, he entered the M.Div. program at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Here he learned about the Early Church, and through his continuing study of the facts of Church History, he realized that only Holy Orthodoxy has preserved the fullness of the Christian Faith.</p> <p>Having graduated with an M.Div. degree, he then began the Ph.D. program in Church History and Historical Theology at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.</p> <p>Dr. Mary Ford is Associate Professor of New Testament at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan, PA, where she has taught for almost 30 years. She has published most recently <em>The Soul's Longing: An Orthodox Christian Perspective on Biblical Interpretation </em>(2015<em>)</em>, as well as co-authoring with her husband, David, <em>Marriage as a Path to Holiness: Lives of the Married Saints</em>, and co-editing <em>Glory and Honor: Orthodox Christian Resources on Marriage</em>, as well as numerous articles.
