
‘Lunatic’ beheads 84-year-old man in Ogun

<p>A man suspected to be mentally challenged has beheaded an 84-year-old man, Elder Alfred Opadipe, in Ipara community, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State.</p>, <p>DAILY POST learnt the lunatic, identified as David Shodola, 32, reportedly beheaded his victim on Friday morning, throwing the town into confusion.</p>, <p>He also ended up dead as he violently resisted arrest and attacked police officers with a machete.</p>, <p>Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omotola Odutola, who confirmed the incident on Friday evening, said a distress call from an unnamed informant prompted Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Bankole Isara Eluyeru to lead some officers to the scene.</p>, <p>According to her, the suspect fiercely resisted arrest as he used “the machete on the DPO and his men.” The team succeeded “in neutralising the suspect and recovering a weapon from him,” she affirmed.</p>, <p>The police spokesperson, however, asserted that there was “no recount of the suspect being a madman from the intelligence the police gathered.”</p>
