Luke 12:49-53 - The Gospel is a Fire

The Bible certainly proclaims a clear message, but that doesn't mean that every message from the Bible will be easy to hear or understand. Jesus spoke the truth and sometimes it was a difficult truth. The difficult truth from this text - the gospel of Jesus will divide. We would love to believe that true unity, peace, and harmony are achievable in this world. That thought sounds nice, even optimistic, but Jesus says that it is not a true thought. The truth is that people will be divided over the gospel. Some will believe it, others will refuse to believe it. This truth is a hard one to swallow, but a vital one for many reasons.
