Leinster championship draws and Matthew Whelan

<p>We’re back with the latest instalment of the LaoisToday Talking Sport Podcast.</p> <p>Host Alan Hartnett is in the hot seat once again and he is joined by his colleague Steven Miller.</p> <p>The pair take a look at the Leinster football and hurling championship draws which were made early on Tuesday morning. </p> <p>The Laois footballers have been drawn to play Westmeath in this year’s Leinster championship.</p> <p>It will be the third time in four years for the counties to meet at the quarter-final stage with Laois winning the <a href='https://www.laoistoday.ie/2018/05/26/paul-kingston-to-the-power-of-three-as-footballers-book-semi-final-place/'>2018</a> and <a href='https://www.laoistoday.ie/2019/05/26/laois-grind-it-out-to-reach-leinster-semi-final-again/'>2019</a> clashes.</p> <p>The semi-final draw will only be held after the quarter-finals in the summer.</p> <p>The football championship will again be straight knockout this year with no qualifiers for the teams beaten in their provinces.</p> <p>While in hurling, Laois will play Wexford in this year’s Leinster championship quarter-final.</p> <p>Should Laois win, they will meet Kilkennyin the semi-final. The winners of Dublin-Antrim will meet Galway in the semi-final.</p> <p>This week's interview features Laois's longest serving and leading appearance holder for the hurlers - Matthew Whelan. </p> <p>The Borris-Kilcotton man speaks about his decision to commit for a 15th year, the return of Cheddar, hopes for the season and ideal club structure. </p>
