Gentry went on to be granted a patent (patent # 4733439) by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, for his invention of a sport’s shoe fastener that eliminated the need for shoelaces. This product known as “Strapz”, received a favorable product review from the Arthritis Foundation, because of the potential to improve the quality of life for many people with arthritis by providing significant improvement in accessibility or ease of use.
