University of North Carolina, et al. — Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the 6-3 majority opinion of the Court, which struck down the institutions' respective race-based admissions procedures as unconstitutional violations of equal protection. DeJoy, while overshadowed in large measure by the landmark equal protection decision in Harvard, delivered a major win for Title VII and the protection of the individual from discrimination based on one's religion.
