LAL #071 — Udo Middelmann: The Ecclesiastical and the Secular law
Sketchy Bongo
Description

We live in spiritual times.

From our vantage, humanity's current shared cultural moment—the pursuit to be reacquainted with our living existence and our consciousness—is as close as we have come in modern times to the affirmation of God.

How can a system produce freedom?

How can necessity produce choice?

We are joined here by the esteemed Udo Middelmann. Udo and Norm met in the summer of 1977 at the Swiss L'Abri.

Udo is a long-time and long-distance friend. He holds degrees in law and theology. He is a trustee and lecturer at the aforementioned L'Abri. Udo is a prolific writer and a regularly published author. And he is the President of the Francis A. Schaeffer Foundation.

Here, Udo and I dip our toes in the deep waters of real world truth, the foundations of law as an institution of governance, the inherent limitations of artificial intelligence, and man's inseparable bond with and to God.

At bottom, Udo believes that, no matter how we choose to reorder ourselves, love remains because we are human. Perhaps that distinction between consciousness and awareness is what modern society has neglected to parse?

This dialogue is a special one. And we'll have Udo back again soon. Until then, open your own door to the Francis A. Schaeffer Foundation.

Listen. Share. Rate. Subscribe. And reach out to us.
