Kwara House of Assembly gets new clerk

<p>The Speaker, Kwara House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu (APC/Gwanara), has confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Kareem Ahmed as the substantive Clerk of the Kwara House of Assembly.</p>, <p>The confirmation of the new Clerk followed a motion moved by the House Leader, Magaji Oba-Abdulkadir (APC/Ilorin Central), following the retirement of the former Clerk, Hajia Halimah Kperogi.</p>, <p>Until his appointment, Ahmed was the Deputy Clerk and Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply of the House.</p>, <p>Danladi-Salihu, who described Ahmed as a dedicated civil servant, congratulated him on his new assignment and expressed the hope that he would bring his experience on board to move the 10th Legislature to enviable heights.</p>, <p>Meanwhile, the House has urged Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to direct the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology to ensure that petrol stations adhere to standard measures in dispensing commodity to customers.</p>, <p>The House said the ministry should ensure that its Weights and Measures Department should monitor petrol stations to adhere to standard weight and measure in dispensing the commodity to motorists in the state.</p>, <p>This followed the adoption of a motion without notice, titled “Need for Government to control the shortchanging of consumers by petroleum products marketers in Kwara”, sponsored by Abdullahi Danbaba (APC/Kaiama-Kemaji-Wajibe).</p>, <p>The House implored the Governor to direct the ministry to collaborate with the Department of Petroleum Resources, (DPR) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), to ensure sanity in the operation of petrol stations in the state.</p>, <p>The Speaker also called on Kwara residents not to hesitate to report any act of shortchange by petrol stations to the concerned government agencies for redress.</p>, <p>In their various contributions, the lawmakers decried how most of the petrol stations have been taking advantage of the increase in the pump price of petrol by adjusting their dispensing mac
