This comes after a district court handed down a rare death sentence last month for a double murder case. Although capital punishment is still permissable under Korean law, an execution has not been carried out for 25 years. Thursday&rsquo;s hearing was the first of its kind in 12 years after it was twice ruled constitutional in 1996 and 2010.
