Kilkee Councillor Says Changing Rents To Long-Term Would Ease Housing Crisis

A West Clare Councillor believes landlords need government incentives to provide long-term rents. It comes as the government is considering to extend the €14,000 tax-free Rent a Room scheme to landlords to increase long-term rental accomodation in the country. There are currently 1,044 listings for entire homes and apartments on AirBNB in Clare with over 99% of those listings for short term rentals. Kilkee Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy says landlords need an incentive to chose long-term rental over short-term.
