Keeping the Faith with Derrik Kassebaum

<p>Derrik Kassebaum is Co-Owner of Cosmos Corporation which is a family owned manufacturing company that makes Health and Wellness products in the pet industry. In addition, the Kassebaum family’s nonprofit organization, GOLI, oversees a couple different endeavors in Guatemala and Haiti.​</p> <p><strong>How did your background inspired you to be where you are today? (05:15)</strong></p> <p>- Derek started listening to Zig Ziglar's of the world and got education on wheels as opposed to my education behind a desk<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p> <p>- His dad was in the military, actually got an honorable discharge for when he was sick and wanting to do something. So he became a barber and for the next 22 years,</p> <p>- His dad is a loud praying guy- practically screaming.</p> <p>- He remembers his mom and dad are just crying and my dad said, I can't do this anymore. God, you either grow this or take it away from me. And it was within about a year that a lady called him and said, Hey, I was in a dog or in a beauty shop getting my hair done. The shampoo that was being used on my hair would work great for dogs. Would you consider making it for dogs? He started a company in 1992. That's really where I got my foothold.<span class= "Apple-converted-space"> </span></p> <p><strong>What can we conclude about the ideal leadership? (09:36)</strong></p> <p>- I have one brother who oversaw finance once oversaw manufacturing, one over marketing, and I of course oversaw the sales. And when we stayed in our lane, there was peace.</p> <p>- When we tried to get into each other's lane. Then there were, there was turmoil. So I think, I think if you can find your lane in life and go, this is my lane and not to cross over into someone else</p> <p><strong>How the more you don't know, that's just how you grow? (17:23)</strong></p> <p>- And at one point I surrendered, let go. And, you know, I realized that ideas and options started to come to me because once you let go, you're letting ideas and, and, and the faith come in,
