Jigawa community repels robbery attack, arrests one

<p>A gang of armed robbers nearly escaped death at the hands of angry community members of Tage village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, Jigawa State.</p>, <p>A resident told DAILY POST that the incident happened on Monday when a gang of armed robbers blocked the Hadejia highway.</p>, <p>He said community members of Tage village and its environs gathered and attacked the hoodlums.</p>, <p>He said they inflicted serious matchet cuts on one of the robbers, while others took to their heels.</p>, <p>Police spokesman, DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident.</p>, <p>He said police received information that a gang of armed robbers blocked Tage to Hadejia highway and robbed people of their belongings.</p>, <p>He said policemen were mobilized to the scene “and found that a group of people gathered and faced the hoodlums, and as a result, they inflicted serious matchet cuts on one of the robbers by name Abdullahi Abubakar of Hago village.”</p>, <p>Shiisu said the police rescued the wounded robber and took him to General Hospital Kafin Hausa for treatment.</p>, <p>He said life ammunition, one expended cartridge, and the sum of thirty-seven thousand naira (N37,000.00k) were recovered from the suspect.</p>, <p>He added that an investigation was going on to arrest the other suspects.</p>
