Japan: New legislation redefines rape, raises age of consent

<p>Lawmakers in Japan have passed major reforms in the country's sex crime legislation. The new laws define non-consensual sex as rape, removing the requirement that the victim had to be forcibly coerced into the act for it to constitute a crime. The legislation also raises the age of consent for the first time in over a century, from 13 to 16.
