Increasing energy efficiency of New York buildings

June 15, 2022 - As part of a comprehensive effort to reduce New York's greenhouse gas emissions, Democratic state lawmakers approved a bill at the end of session that increases and expands efficiency standards for home appliances and equipment, and directs state regulators to update building codes. We spoke with the Natural Resources Defense Council's Samantha Wilt about the environmental and fiscal benefits of this proposal, if it becomes law.
