<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tania Vasallo grew up in Spain in a patriarchal family in an already patriarchal country. Stifled by the status quo and the certainty that boys had it better, Tania pursued her studies and began a career as an art director in New York City.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Though she worked with noteworthy accounts on the scale of Starbucks and Nabisco, Vasallo felt constrained by the trappings of corporate America with its limited vacation and male-centric staffing. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tania’s desire to change careers was magnified when she experienced a considerable loss in the value of her retirement account during the 2008 financial crisis.
