I Want to Pray But What Do I Say_9

<p>Sunday 9 May&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I want to pray but what do I say? 9</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>This is an age long question. People have been asking the question for decades and many are still asking today. Jesus’ disciples too asked a similar question because they wanted to be more effective and see more results in the place of prayer. They said to Him, “…Lord we can see your prayers are different from ours, teach us how to pray the way John taught his disciples.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Let’s read Luke 11: 4 (NLT)</p> <p>"...and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation."</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Here we can see in the second part of the verse that Jesus acknowledged the reality of temptation and the evil around us in this world.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>When Cain and Abel gave their sacrifices to God, for some reasons Cain and his sacrifice were rejected while God accepted Abel and his sacrifice.&nbsp; Cain was angry and he began to nurse some negative emotions towards his brother. God saw this and said to him “…sin is around you and it is trying to take advantage of you but you must take control of it.” Cain didn’t listen and he fell for the temptation and fell out of favour and fellowship with God. It is important that we are alert to the reality of evil and temptation in the world and ask God for the strength to overcome the temptations around us.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Prayer gives us the strength to overcome temptations and conquer the evil around us. There are some who do not believe in the reality of the forces of hell, but Jesus acknowledged the reality of demons and how they work to hurt us and draw us into sin by temptation.. In fact, if we read the gospels, one of the things that Jesus did a lot was to cast out devils.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I pray that God will release His angels to strengthen you and His Spirit to keep you so that you can walk in victory over temptation and all the powers of hell in Jesus Name.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>God bless you.
