I Want to Pray But What Do I Say_8

<p>&nbsp;Saturday 8 May&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I want to pray but what do I say? 8</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>All this week we’re looking at all the different “prayer point” that Jesus gave in the prayer model He gave to disciples, they are not statements He expected them to say verbatim, they were meant to be a prayer guideline to help them structure the things to say when they prayed. The guideline He gave them then is still applicable to us today.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Luke 11: 4 (NLT)</p> <p>“…and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The first part of the verse says “…and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sins against us…” Sin is one thing that we don’t like talking about today but it is the thing that separates us from God. To keep our relationship with God intact we must not condone sin in our lives. And when we sin by His sacrifice on the cross, we can receive forgiveness when we ask.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Aside from sinning against God, sometimes as human beings we offend one another. Just as God forgives us, He expects us to forgive one another. This is so serious that Jesus said if we want to pray and we remember we have something against our fellow human being, we should settle with the person before praying. Knowing how difficult it can be forgiving people that offered us, His disciples asked Him how many times they must forgive people, Jesus said 70 X 7 times &nbsp;(LK.17).&nbsp;</p> <p><br></p> <p>Jesus was simply saying that we must never stop forgiving people if we want God to forgive us and answer our prayers.</p> <p>Asking for forgiveness is a sign of humility and granting forgiveness to those who offend us is a demonstration of love and maturity.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I pray in the name of Jesus that you will have the humility to reach out to your heavenly Father and ask for forgiveness when you sin and strength and grace to forgive all those who offend you.
