Sunday 2nd May 2021     I want to pray but what do I say? 2    What exactly do you say when you pray? When Jesus prayed in the Gethsemane, he scolded His for not being able to pray with Him for one hour. Knowing what to say when you pray is one of the ways to improve your prayer life.   Let read Luke 11:1-4 (NLT), Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2Jesus said, “This is how you should pray: “Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. 3 Give us each day the food we need, 4 and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.   The disciples of Jesus had observed how different and effective Jesus’ prayer was. They saw something in Jesus that they did not have and they wanted that special thing they saw in Him as He prayed. So, they asked Him, “Teach us how to pray as John the Baptist taught his disciples. The first lesson here is that prayer can be taught.   Jesus’ disciples were Jews, so they already had a practice of prayer in line with the Jewish religion.  So, they had been praying long before they met Jesus.  The Jews maintain strict prayer times each day in line with the laws of Moses, so why were they asking Jesus to teach them to pray?     They noticed that Jesus’ prayer was different from the way they prayed. They must have seen the intimacy and the attitude of communion in His prayer which was obviously missing in theirs. They could see the result of His prayer and they wanted to experience what He experienced in prayer, so they asked “Lord, teach us to pray…”   As we continue in this discussion on prayer, we will learn some things about prayer that would help us be more effective in
