How To Build A Company Blog

Hi, I'm Ian Hannington from the International Institute of Digital Marketing. Blogs can be a very useful way to provide your audience with free information while promoting your brand. In this podcast, I’m going to explain simply how to create and build your own blog for your business. Step 1: Decide on what content you want to provide. Who do you want to read your blog? Start by brainstorming what kind of content your target market would be interested in and what content fits with your brand. Your topics should be linked to your brand and the goods or services that you are trying to sell. Step 2: Create an account with wordpress (or any number of other blog tools) Websites like Wordpress and others make it incredibly easy to start a blog or add one to your existing company website. Step 3: Start writing blog posts Content is king. Once you have your topic you can start writing the first blog article. Try to write in a style that is accessible and not complicated. Be careful of jargon and if you must use it then explain it the first time you do. Organize your post into sections and have an outline. You can use visuals to make the blog more interesting to look at and to emphasize your points. Step 4: Post regularly The best way to grow your blog is consistency. Post as often as works for you and your audience. Step 5: Promote your posts How will people know about the new blog unless you let them know? Remember to use your company’s social media channels to promote each post. Blogs are a powerful tool. More companies should be using this tool to connect to their customers in a way that provides value apart from their main product and brings awareness to their brand. Thank you for listening.
