Gwilym Davies - Where does the Saul experiment end up? Where does a pattern of pragmatic partial obedience and conformity to the surrounding culture get us if it we follow it to its logical conclusion? In 1 Samuel 27–31, we follow the Saul experiment to the bitter end. On the one hand, we see Saul ending up without God and without hope. On the other, though, we see that in God’s grace, the Saul experiment is not the end.
