How does Gen-Z view College?
Osas Ighodaro
Description

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, prices for college tuition and fees were 1,410.87% higher in 2020 versus 1977 (a $282,174.44 difference in value).

At some point, we have to recognize that GenZ is not just a bunch of complainers.

The cost of tuition has outpaced wage growth to the point that getting a college degree only makes sense if you do not have to acquire debt. An article from Forbes in Jul,y 2018 pointed out that the price of college has increased almost 8 times faster than wages.

Among the Class of 2019, 69% of college students took out student loans, and they graduated with an average debt of $29,900, including both private and federal debt. Meanwhile, 14% of their parents took out an average of $37,200 in federal parent PLUS loans.

The bottom line is that many graduates are coming into an economy where they are saddled with debt and with little opportunity to unburden themselves from it any time soon.

This has created a debtors prison for almost all of the Millennial Generation. GenZ has also started down this path however, younger ones from this cohort are waking up to this reality and are rethinking everything.

In this episode, Dylan Minter shares his perspective as a current college student and gives valuable insight regarding how this generation sees the future of education and everything else.
