Description

I don't know that I have ever met someone who loves small talk. Even as an extreme extrovert, I would much rather talk about things that make me think than the weather or why someone is at an event.

To get the ball rolling in that direction, I will sometimes share something that might be considered interesting or personal about myself. That signals that I am open to having a real conversation.

I wondered if other people have strategies they use. Fortunately, Laura Fitts, Jim Tam and Philip Tate, APR, were willing to have a conversation with me about it.

What tips do you have for getting beyond small talk? I'm always interested in hearing ways to create real conversations. Please share yours.

Connect with the panelists: Laura Fitts: https://www.linkedin.com/in/laurafitts/ Jim Tam: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jimtam/ Philip Tate: https://www.linkedin.com/in/philiptateaprfellowprsa/ Dr Robyn Odegaard: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robynodegaard/

Want a summary of the five Quick Hits I post every week, plus the links to the LinkedIn pages of each of the panelist to show up in your in-box every week?
