Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles and the Misinformation or Out Right Lies || Thursday 07.27.23

I will make my final decision on what I think of the matter as things progress or more questions are answered. As of now, these are my thoughts,<br /><br /><br />If the librarians in this specific schools district are responsible for teaching the students to read, and 4-8th grade are still reading below the grade level, that could be the reason the librarians are moved into different positions.<br /><br />The goal is the students reading to their grade level, and specialized support necessary for that to happen.<br /><br />Traditional school librarians do not teach you how to read.<br /><br />They do not teach you one on one how to read.<br /><br />There is more to teaching students to read, especially struggling students, than reading them stories.<br /><br />The teachers are even failing to teach them to read, so obviously a traditional librarian isn't equipped for that at the scale or depth necessary for the kids to catch up.<br /><br />The traditional school librarian teaches you how to gain access to books and information computer, etc, in the library, and reads stories to younger kids.<br /><br />No matter how fancy we make what they do sound by describing it with large important words.<br /><br />They are not equipped for what he is introducing.<br /><br />If they were the students would not be behind, because the librarians would have helped the teachers teach them to read.<br /><br />Librarians serve a different purpose.<br /><br />There's a difference in between being able to find where a book is located on a shelf, than being able to read the book that you find.<br /><br />As the superintendent stated, " it's about prioritizing what is important "<br /><br />Why didn't there parents help teach them. The parents should have known they were behind and should have asked for change.<br /><br />I would prefer my child to know how to read a book, than to know where to put it on the shelf.<br /><br />Not, " the wealthy or white areas have a library so we want our kids to have one too "<br /><br />Being able t
