Homecoming - Chapter 6

<p>This very long chapter begins with Dicey waking up and feeling quite depressed because she has to worry about her siblings. She has next to no money and has no idea how she is going to feed the family or where they are going to go next. She gets the idea that they could earn tips by carrying bags of groceries from the store to the cars for people shopping. The beginning of this doesn't go very well, but then they help an older man and his granddaughter who insist on giving them three dollars and the others have managed to make a few dollars in tips so they have the food problem solved. But the next problem Dicey has to solve is how to get across the river without walking across the bridge. They steal a dingy on the side of a yacht and manage to cross that way. They all fall asleep exhausted.</p>
