<p>US Open Day 8 witnessed history when, for the first time, three mothers entered the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament.</p>, <p>Victories for Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Tsvetana Pironkova means the three moms have entered history books.</p>, <p>Azarenka won a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 victory over 20th-seeded Karolina Muchova while Pironva topped Alice Cornet 6-4, 6-7(7-5),6-3.</p>, <p>In her own case, Serena Williams won a tough three-set battle against Greek lady Maria Sakkari.</p>, <p>It became more evident in this year’s US Open outings so far that things are not easy for Williams as the 38-year-old tennis super star had to fight three gruelling sets in two consecutive matches for survival.</p>, <p>Williams looked composed as she took the first set in 37 minutes but dropped the second in a tiebreak.</p>, <p>ALSO READ: 2020/21 LaLiga Santander season gets under way</p>, <p>Serena had to take out her best tennis to come back from 0-2 down in the third by winning six of the match’s final seven games.</p>, <p>The two-and-a half hour long match ended with the score line going in Serena’s favour; 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-3.</p>, <p>Williams is just three wins away from what would be her Grand Slam singles title No. 24.</p>
