Highway to Hell vs Back in Black - Part 2

This is ALBUM CLASH: CIVIL WAR!!  To round off our rocktastic AC/DC mega clash we ask ourselves a question: How would AC/DC recover from the tragic loss of frontman Bon Scott in early 1980? Well, how does recruiting a little fella in a flat cap from the North East of England and going on to record the third most successful album of all time sound? Because that’s exactly what they did. Yep, in this week’s pod Kev expertly guides us through the colossus that is 1980’s ‘Back in Black’ - the album which revitalised a band in mourning, paid fitting tribute to their fallen comrade, sent metal mainstream and (years later) provided the backdrop an obscure Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Junior vehicle that would go on to create another cultural behemoth. There’s a lot to get into in the space of just ten tracks, too - bewildering highs, disappointing lows, not to mention face melters and high-pitched shrieks aplenty. There’s also an album cover which surely inspired a memorable scene in ‘This is Spinal Tap’. In this week’s ‘video killed the radio star’ Tim takes us through a very recent clip from an artist we’ve covered before, which caused quite a lot of controversy among the permanently outraged (who, frankly, should know better).  It’s also Tim’s pick for ‘album of the pod’ and he introduces us to a collection of Indie bangers from an up-and-coming Midlands band. We get down to scoring our two albums to discover which iteration of AC/DC triumphs in the ring of - erm - conflict, before Kev reveals the next artist to go up against themselves in our ALBUM CLASH: CIVIL WAR season.
