<p>In October of 1978, John Carpenter&#39;s Halloween terrorized audiences around the globe, quickly making it the highest-grossing independent movie of all time. In 1981, its direct sequel, Halloween II, was released in an attempt to build upon the success of the original film. The idea was to give the story of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode a meaningful conclusion. The franchise&#39;s success spawned even more installments, with Universal Pictures and Blumhouse announcing a brand new direct sequel to the 1978 film in 2017. Jamie Lee Curtis would once again return to play Laurie Strode, with seasoned Halloween alum returning to the franchise as well. Which was the better direct sequel to the 1978 original?
