Guber poll: Protect your votes – PDP leaders tell Bayelsans

<p>Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have appealed to Bayelsans to vote and guard against manipulation by opposition parties during the November 11 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State.</p>, <p>They made the call during the Bayelsa State PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Grand Finale on Tuesday at the Ox-bow Lake Pavilion Swali, in Yenagoa.</p>, <p>The party leaders urged the voters to stand against forces that will not allow their votes count during the exercise, dismissing speculations of violence that could cause voter apathy.</p>, <p>While handing the party flag to the governorship candidate, incumbent Governor Duoye Diri, PDP Acting National Chairman, Amb. Iliya Damagum, advised the Bayelsa electorate to take their destiny into their hands, noting that the best they can do for themselves is to reelect a governor who has brought prosperity to the state.</p>, <p>He stated that the flag handed to Diri represents victory, development, peace and stands as a symbol of prosperity for everyone.</p>, <p>Damagum noted that PDP was the only party that had given the state and South-South zone the opportunity to produce the President of the country in Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and urged Bayelsans to reciprocate the gesture by voting the party again in Saturday’s election.</p>, <p>Chairman PDP Bayelsa Governorship National Campaign Council, Agbu Kefas, who is also governor of Taraba State, described Diri as a symbol of peace, development and prosperity.</p>, <p>Kefas said his Bayelsa colleague has demonstrated through his projects and programmes that he was concerned about the welfare and wellbeing of his people.</p>, <p>Also speaking former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues in the National Assembly, attested to the exemplary character and capacity of Diri.</p>, <p>Former PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, said former President Jonathan’s and the Ijaw nation’s endorsement of Diri were indication of the governor’s victory.</p>, <p>Speaking on behalf of th
