Gospel of Mark - Mark 9:14-21 - Prog 42

Our study continues the episode in Mark 9:14-21 where Jesus casts out a spirit from a child. His father said it had often cast the boy into fire and into water trying to destroy him. He said this had been happening to him since he was a young child. Here Jesus draws out the faith of the father in his desperate plea for help, saying, to this father, “All things are possible to him that believes." Our Lord then proceeds to cast out the deaf and dumb spirit from the boy. The other 9 disciples asked Jesus why they could not cast it out. Once again, Jesus replied that it requires the kind of faith exercised in prayer to cast out that kind of spirit. With your Bible open, let’s turn to Mark 9:14 with our teacher, Dr. Mitchell.
