Gospel of Mark - Mark 9:10-16 - Prog 41

Our study in the Gospel of Mark resumes in Chapter 9 verse 10 where Mark writes that Jesus and His 3 disciples, Peter, James and John, were coming down from the mountain where our Lord Jesus had been transfigured before them. The 3 disciples had a question for Jesus after He told them that the Son of Man was to rise again. They were wondering what rising from the dead meant. So they asked Him about Elijah, saying, 'Isn’t Elijah supposed to come first?' Jesus said, Yes, and yet how is it that the Son of Man must suffer? Our Lord once again turns their focus to His coming death and resurrection, before telling them that Elijah had already come in the person of John the Baptist.
