Gospel of Luke 22:35-46 - Prog 97

Our study resumes in Luke 22: 35. Here Jesus gives the disciples His final instructions before proceeding to the Mount of Olives to pray before being betrayed. Jesus said that what was written of Him has a fulfillment of Isa.53:12... “And He was numbered with the transgressors” although He knew no sin nor did any sin and there was no deceit in His mouth. Then the major focus of this section of Scripture turns to and centers on our Lord’s intense prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. So much was the agony that an angel appeared to Him inorder to strengthen Him. He prayed the same prayer 3 times, although here, Luke only mentions one time. Our Lord still admonishes His sleepy disciples to rise and pray inorder not to enter into temptation.
