Gospel of Luke 21:27-36 - Prog 93

Jesus, having spoken to His disciples about the signs of His 2nd coming to earth to establish the kingdom of God, He goes on to speak another parable. This one is the parable of the fig tree. As Dr. Mitchell explains, the fig tree is a picture of the nation of Israel. He also shares the meaning of the phrase, “this generation” found in verse 32. Jesus also declares the contrasts between the two things that will pass away and the two things that will not pass away. Jesus’ words will never pass away nor the nation of Israel.
